Katrina M (Lorenz) Milliken, LMSW-C, C-SSWS, LLMSW Supervisor

Katrina Milliken's work experience has focused on children, families, parenting, school, treatment of adults, assessment & trauma. Personal experience as an unexpectedly solo parent & then ovarian cancer survivor may help others moving through new difficult situations.

Katrina is committed to work with older teens (age 16+), young adults & individuals, to help move through present difficult circumstances to a more secure, confident, calm state of mind and being.

Her practice focuses on treatment of those feeling disruption due to mental health, trauma, relationship & adjustment issues.  Sometimes, life is just DIFFICULT.

A felt sense of safety, then insight, personal accountability, problem-solving, perspective-taking & encouragement are large parts of making progress toward change. Humor and discussion of related and relevant current events are woven into sessions.

Katrina includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) elements, Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Parent Management Training (PMT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy in treatment sessions.

Katrina belongs to an international group of mental health and neurodevelopmental professionals with a shared mission to help people become more aware, regulated, and resilient so they can better respond to life’s challenges and live happier and healthier lives, through the lens of Polyvagal Theory. Additionally, Katrina recently completed a post-graduate certification in Applied Educational Neuroscience with Butler University, and created a parenting workshop curriculum based on the neuroscience framework of these studies.

Katrina provides reflective clinical supervision to current Limited License Master of Social Work professionals, either individually or via contracts made with agencies to provide supervision to their LLMSW staff.

Katrina is also a Certified School Social Worker Specialist (C-SSWS), with a current interest in consulting and collaborating with local school districts to provide true mental health services within their continuum of student services.
